Your Questions About Best Deals At Costco

Linda asks…

Is costco or walmart cheaper to shop at i want the best deals on groceries?

yes i want to get the best prices and bulk deals i know both walmart and costco are really cheap to shop at but would like to get our opinion on which is better

i am tired of gettin ripped off at stater brothers and albertsons i want to save hundreds upon thousands of dollars

admin answers:

It all depends… Honestly! Between the two of them, SAMS Club is cheaper than COSTCO, but sometimes Wal-Mart can even beat both of them. You HAVE to know your prices.

That’ll be 5-cents, please.

Joseph asks…

How much does a pair of prescription sunglasses cost at Costco? Will it be the best deal?

about -7 both eyes

admin answers:

I can’t tell you how much they will cost at Costco because I don’t have a store near me. However, as a girl who has been wearing glasses/prescription sunglasses almost my whole life, I CAN tell you that places like LensCrafters will charge about about $60 for sunglasses frames, and about $170 for the basic plastic lenses. Usually you can find deals and coupons for $80 off each pair of glasses/sunglasses, but it’s still a lot of money.

There’s a place called America’s Best that has discount frames for much less. As far as Costco goes, I would just go and see how much they charge you,and shop around. Sunglasses you should probably go a little cheaper than regular glasses because frame styles change so often.

Hope this helps you!

Nancy asks…

Do They Still Sell Creative Cubes (c and c cage grids) at Costco?

Hi. Im getting 2 guinea pigs soon and was going to build a c and c cage. cavyspirit.com said the best deal was costco‘s cubes with 30 grids and connectors. I looked online for them but couldn’t find them. I haven’t checked with the store yet but I’ve heard many people say that they could not find them at costco. I was just wondering if they still sell them from there because I think its a really good deal. Thanks!

admin answers:

Different COSTCO’s sell different things, it depends on what their delivery truck brings in, COSTCO is a lot like Sam’s Club whatever the truck brings in is what they will get, different sam’s get different things depending on the location, same applies to COSTCO.
You could try target, i found mine there.

Carol asks…

Best deals you’ve gotten on wedding stuff?

Who else is using Sam’s, Costco, BJ’s Warehouse, or any other warehouse store or wholesale shop for wedding stuff? What is the best deal you’ve found at those places?

If you aren’t shopping there, please share your awesome deals with us.

Our best deal:
We’re getting our tablecloths, napkins, plates (basic restaurant plates), and silverware at Sam’s Club. It’s $350-ish for 140 people!!! That’s the best deal I’ve ever seen. We’re gonna donate all the stuff to the church where we’re having the reception after we’re done because who really needs 140 plates, forks, and napkins? And who needs 18 tablecloths?
torit: I would have never thought of telling them before the wedding. We were just going to surprise them afterwards with the gift.
Ang*BTB: I can’t find anywhere in our area that will rent linens unless you’re using their facilities. I figured $2-3 per person is pretty inexpensive.

admin answers:

Overall we have been saving a lot of money on everything. I bought the tuxedo’s for my 7 year old and 2 year old sons for $25 a piece on ebay… The flower girl dress I got for $13 on ebay… My dress!!! It was an $1100 dress that I got for $160 (that included the veil and crinoline slip) custom made off ebay… The bridesmaids are buying their dresses online for $70.
My father is growing all the flowers (tulips and lilies) in his garden…but as a backup if needed, we will get our flowers from Sams… Got our tablecloths at Sams too, what a deal huh. At the dollar tree last night I just bought the napkins… They are soft dinner napkins 40 count for $1. I bought the invitations (diy) on clearance, 50 invitations with envelopes, response cards and envelopes for $5!!
We are doing the candy buffet because no one in our family or friends network has ever done it so it’s new to us… I got 100 Chinese take out boxes for $15… And the glass containers are gorgeous and I got them at Big Lots for $5, $10 and $15. We are going to resell as much as we can after the wedding to see how much we can make back.
There is much more but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
Oh and the ceremony location… We were going to get married in a church that was going to charge us $350… That was for the minister, rental, organist, clean up… I am a huge lover of light houses, my fiance rented us a lighthouse (well the property outside it) and we are going to get married by the lighthouse overlooking the ocean and it’s only costing $150! Adding the chairs we need to it it still comes to $100 cheaper than the church.

Paul asks…

Best Television – what should I buy?

Finally going to jump in and buy a large screen TV. Would like to spend between less than a grand – and need to get a DVD player as well. (do some televisions come with them built in?) Would love to see where you read reviews and did research in order to buy the best television and get the best deal. Looked at Costco – but I’m really lost. Thanks!

admin answers:

Don’t buy the built in DVD player TVs (yes some TVs do come with them built in). They are less reliable, and if they break, you have to send the whole TV in for repairs. I would definitely advise against going that route. And the more reputation brands and choices do not even offer that, its usually the lower quality brands that do.

You should check out here, http://reviews.cnet.com/best-hdtvs/?tag=leftColumnArea1.0 They don’t cover every TV out there, but have a solid list. Also, check out Amazon and Best Buy for customer reviews. Take them with a grain of salt, but if you see a model constantly flagged for the exact same thing, it can be a red flag to stay away. In general the big boys in TV are Panasonic, Sony, Sharp, Samsung, and LG. Those should be the primary brands to look towards. Toshiba and Vizio also kind of flirt in around the top as well, but I think the other guys, on the whole, tend to outperform (but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some good models in the mix from Toshiba and Vizio).

For your price range I think you would be best served with around a 42″ Plasma. I think you can get maximize size for the price if you go that route. And I would recommend going with a Panasonic Plasma as they are a step above the rest.

Costco has limited stock, I would look at Amazon first and foremost (if you’re okay buying that way). Otherwise maybe go to ABC Warehouse or Best Buy or other similar stores. Many of them will match competitors’ prices now, so you can pit them against each other and then buy from the store closest to your home.

DVD players are dirt cheap, you can pick up one of those fairly cheap. I would consider getting one with an HDMI port (so its an upscaling DVD player). It will help make DVDs look better on your new HDTV. Or consider buying a BluRay player (which also acts as an Upscaling DVD player).

Here are some sets I would recommend,

PANASONIC TCP42S2 1080p 42″ $759 ABC Warehouse
- second best series/line from Panasonic, a really solid TV

PANASONIC TCP50U2 1080p 50″ $844 ABC Warehouse
- one step down from the S series, but you get a 50″ set here, and its still a very good TV

SONY KDL40EX500 1080p 40″ 120Hz LCD – $809 ABC Warehouse
- a bit smaller, but the EX500 is a solid line from Sony

SAMSUNG LN40C650 1080p 40″ 120Hz LCD – $899 ABC Warehouse
- a solid option from Samsung, but considering the price difference I’d likely go for the Sony between these two 40″ choices

Your Questions About History Channel

Ruth asks…

history channel?

If you have Comcast… what is the channel for The History Channel????

admin answers:

Jenny asks…

History Channel?

So, how did everyone feel about the History Channel‘s The Universe series???? Also, all there other series and shows about space???? I think they are pretty interesting. Some were awesome and some were the perfect sleeping pill. just wanted tot hink what you guys thought

admin answers:

I thought it was brilliant. Instead of throwing a bunch of complex ideas that the average person wouldn’t understand it gave an accurate and understandable (something that is very hard to do) account of anything it talked about. Yea, some were kind of boring, like the outer planets, but most were interesting. And if you have the science channel i would check that out every once in a while, sometimes they have some pretty good things on. Like today they had a special on the information paradox of black holes.

Sharon asks…

What channel is History Channel on comcast digital cable?

I have to watch a documentary for school on the human machine
and Ive been flippin through all my channels and likeee i couldnt find
history channel. So whats the channel plz? thanks. 10 points for best answer and achannel!

admin answers:

It all depends on where you live…in Vermont it is Ch 51. Go to www.comcast.net and hit channel lineup and enter your zipcode and it will tell you what channel.
Or use this

Mark asks…

Why is the History channel showing a bunch of shows about aliens?

Every time I turn it to the history channel, they always have a different show about extra terrestrials and how they came down to earth to help the Myans or other civilizations out to give them ideas. Television has always shown tv shows about aliens and occasional shows about Roswell, but I think the history channel is over doing these types of shows. Is there a reason why the History channel keeps showing these shows over and over again? Are there really aliens that came from the future to help these civilizations out, and since they have found evidence that’s why they are frequently showing these shows? Any thoughts please.

admin answers:

As the popularized saying goes, you can’t handle the truth.

Yes, aliens are real. I have seen their ships along with others who were there on two occasions. I have met many other people who have seen them too. The aliens are very intelligent and know that people will figure them out eventually so they want to be the ones to tell the story about themselves. That means they are allowing themselves to be seen on purpose. You don’t really think they need all those running lights and clearance lights all over their ships at night do you?

Now, if average people have seen them so many times why would you think political leaders haven’t seen them? Well, that is because leaders have seen them.
Here you have Rush Limbaugh talking about it: http://mfile.akamai.com/5020/wma/rushlim…
Here is Congressman Dennis Kucinich talking about it and trying to back off to save his political standing:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSRWRbuMq…

You just need to understand a simple fact: IF BEINGS HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE IT HERE FROM ANOTHER SOLAR SYSTEM THEY ALSO HAVE THE FAR EASIER TECHNOLOGY TO RULE OUR PLANET AND NATION BEHIND THE SCENES WITHOUT MOST PEOPLE KNOWING. That statement must be a fact in your mind if you have any measure of intellect or technical knowledge.

It must also be a given that if there were beings capable of coming here thousands of years ago and erecting monuments like the Great Pyramid of Giza which are impossible for us to construct today with our current technology then they must be at least several thousand years ahead of us in technology because of the time for research and development they have had since that time. The idea that they are only a couple hundred years ahead of us in technology must be thrown out the window. And yes, it is true what the History Channel says about it being impossible. There are 400,000 blocks of stone at Giza which no technology humanity has today can move 100 feet let alone 100s of miles.

You can easily research HAR1, the section of DNA all living creatures carry that has 18 points of difference between human and chimpanzee. This same section has only 2 points of difference between a chimpanzee and a fish. HAR1 is the section of DNA code that is most responsible for brain growth. If you have any education in biology or genetics you know that the numbers given in this paragraph deny any statistical possibility if you only take evolution into account.

So to answer your question given this collection of factual information:
The History Channel is showing lots of alien shows because the aliens have decided that is what they want to happen.

And that my friend is the BEST ANSWER. Thank you,

Ken asks…

What are all the history channel documentary’s about ww2?

What are all the history channel documentary’s about ww2? Please give a list of what the episode was called. Ex. History Channel – The plot to kill Hitler. You dont have to list them if you can find a site with them all already listed., just provide the link to the site. In case you cant figure it out i love learning bout ww2, i think its one of the most interesting events in history.

admin answers:

I find WWII interesting as well im so fascinated with it , but sry i dont know any website just wnated to say i like to learn about WWII if you want to play or “KIND” of reexperince WWII , i suggest u try playing call of duty world at war, it’s about WWII and actually contains real footage and clips from WWII and uses real facts and lcoations from WWII but the reason why i siad u re experince it is it kind of gives u a feeling on how terrible it was but offcourse it cant be compared to WWII at allllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Charles asks…

What is the mysterious music played on the History Channel?

A lot of times on the history channel there is a specific music theme they play, typically when someone is talking about UFO’s or monsters. It is two medium string notes (violin, cello, ect.), followed by two lower notes. Does anyone have any idea what the title of the music is?

admin answers:

Without a specific (music) link – You Tube? – it’s very difficult to make any really meaningful attempts at identification.

The following piece is very often used in Cosmological/TV/Movie/ etc. Programs; see if it rings any kind of a bell for you [from Richard Wagner's "Die Gotterdammerung"] : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGkuOmXUc3I&feature=related

Linda asks…

How can I tell good History Channel documentaries from bad?

I’ve been getting really into documentaries recently but I’ve noticed some of the History Channel stuff is really well done and some is absolute garbage! Anyone know how to tell the difference before I buy one? Are there certain directors to look for? Or “specials” vs. tv shows? Maybe the amount of people involved in making it will clue me in?

admin answers:

Personally I consider much of what’s on the “History” Channel to be crap designed to help charlatans like Erich Von Daniken sell more books and videos. I stick with PBS Nova these days.

Your Questions About Free Stuff To Do In Denver

Carol asks…

What are some fun, but cheap or free, activities or things to see in denver or up north on I-25?

We are taking a mini road trip to denver from fort collins (CO) and are looking for fun things to do. We are pretty close to broke, and would love to find some fun stuff that is free, or at least cheap. Any ideas?

admin answers:

You should visit the Swetsville Zoo. Take I-25 to the first Ft. Collins exit (Harmony Rd.) and go right (east) about 1/4 mile. Follow the signs.

The Swetsville Zoo is a bunch of sculptures of animals and all kinds of a cool things…all made from old car parts and scrap metal. Kids love it! I’m pretty sure that it’s free…if not, it’s very cheap.

George asks…

Things To Do In Highlands Ranch/Denver, CO?

Hello. I am going to denver next week for about a week. i was wondering what kind of stuff there is to do. I really like free stuff, ha. so let me know what kind of things there are to do like hiking, parks, movies, bowling, historical stuff, and other interesting stuff. it doesn’t have to be free.

admin answers:

In Parker – not far from Highlands Ranch – you can visit The Wildlife Experience. In Lone Tree (very close) you can go bowling and indoor sky diving http://www.skyventurecolorado.com/ just south of Park Meadows Mall.

The Littleton Historical Museum http://www.littletongov.org/museum/ is Free and very neat – has two working farms right in the middle of Littleton – and it is free. You can go to the Denver Zoo,http://www.denverzoo.org/ Red Rock, Buffalo Bills’ Grave http://www.buffalobill.org/ and Museum, Molly Brown’s Househttp://www.mollybrown.org/ (Titanic survivor), the state capital, see a Colorado Rockies game – if they are at home, Colorado History Museum, and just enjoy being outdoors. (The weather is going to be in the 70′s all week according to forecasts.)

Fun (and unusual) places to eat are: Beau Jo’s Pizza (you buy your pizza by the pound), White Fence Farm (has a nice family atmosphere and petting zoo), Casa Bonita http://www.casabonitadenver.com/ (not the best food – great soppapillas – but the atmosphere makes up for it), Traildust steakhouse and The Buckhorn Exchange. Http://www.buckhorn.com/

The city of Golden is fun to go to – and Heritage square http://www.heritagesquare.info/ as well.

Some people experience a form of alititude sickness coming to CO, so if you are not accustomed to a higher altitude (coming from sea level), drink a lot of water and rest well. (Most people only get it in goig to the mountains – but I had a friend visit from LA once, and she got it here in the city.) Staying hydrated is the best way to keep from getting it – it’s a horrid way to spend a vacation – you feel all headachy and shaky. Probably happened to her in town because she was a lightweight.

Have a great time and you’ve got a great time waiting for you!

James asks…

Anybody sold stuff on Craig’s List in Denver/Boulder area?

If so, just curious what your experiences were. Is it free to list things, is it safe, did things sell, what do you accept as pay (cash, check, etc.)???

admin answers:

I haven’t had any problems, met some very nice people both selling and buying stuff. I personally will only take cash or pay pal. Yes it is free to list and it is amazing how fast you can get rid of free things. If all possible when you are doing a transaction to meet in a neutral well populated area just to be safe.

Lizzie asks…

So I’m visiting her, going to her city, driving my car. She doesn’t have a car. I have only been to Denver,CO,

So I’m visiting her, going to her city, driving my car. She doesn’t have a car. I have only been to Denver,CO, once, and I don’t know where to go ect. She likes it when I’m in charge, when I take her somewhere and she has a great time, but doesn’t have to figure what we are going to do. So I’ll be in charge of showing her a great time, In a city I don’t know in my car. I like her very much, and thinks she really deserve some stress free time to just relax and enjoy herself. I don’t know where to do or what to do. Anyone have in ideas? I don’t want to go to the movies, boring stuff like that, I want it to be spectacular for her.

admin answers:

Do you know her well, enuf to know what she, would find spectacular?…….Some ppl love the simple things in life, to win and dine down by a river, under a big tree – with little assortment of treats.
Others like music, a nice restuarant – If she loves nature there are many places you can go by pulick transport together too.(art gallery museums, etc fun places)

It does help to know what she likes, for this is how you could spend time with her – relaxing can involve many things.

Maybe you can aks her what are some of her favourite spots where she lives and go there?

Keep smiling and best wishes

Sandy asks…

interior decoration help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

we were looking for decoration items for our new home. we went through one of the furniture stores here in Denver which offer free design services if we buy stuff from their store. So we’been talking to this designer guy and hes helping us get stuff for our home. But he wants us buy everything from his store so that he can get commission. We already went over our budget of $2000 and still got more stuff to buy. so we thought about buying some items from other stores like antique shops so we can save money, but will that be alright since he gave us all the ideas and now we buy from outside.Should we worry about his commission or our budget.will he be pissed if we let him know that we are gonna buy from other stores. What you guys would do in this situation???????PLZZZZZ HLP!!!!!

admin answers:

Sweetie, he’s not thinking of YOUR wallet, other than to drain it. Just tell him you feel he’s served his purpose for you for as far as you’d like to go at THIS TIME. Ask him for his card and tell him, once the money is available, you’ll look him up again. Simple. God, you’re so sweet. Sleep well, you’re not jipping any one. Believe me when I tell you, these designers don’t even last at those stores for very long. Till you go back there in a few months, he’ll be gone. Go shop within your means. You won’t enjoy it if you feel you had to sacrifice too much to have it. And you don’t even have to tell him you’re buying anything from other stores. Just say, you’re done shopping for now….period!

Marine Corp Bound

It was the summer of 2003; I had just graduated high school and was stuck with the decision of going to college or joining the United States Marine Corp. My Father, a former Marine told me to go to college, as he knew from experience how hard the Marines could be. I chose not to listen to him and to follow in his footsteps. I was soon about to experience the toughest challenge of my life.
On October 13th 2003, I said goodbye to my Parents and brother as they sadly hugged me and wished me luck. I boarded a plane from Denver Colorado headed straight to San Diego, where I would spend the next three months on Marine Corp Recruit Depot for boot camp. As I sat there anxiously waiting for the plane to land in San Diego, I was filled with emotions. One part of me was excited to finally get the chance to follow in my father’s footsteps and earn the title of Marine, the other part of me felt scared, not knowing what to expect, except for the horror stories that my father told me from his experience. I began to question whether I was doing the right thing or not. My stomach felt like it was tied in a million knots. What if I failed? What if I couldn’t handle it and was sent home? What would my family think of me then? The pilot told the flight attendants to prepare the cabin for landing, this was it. I took a deep breath and tried to clear my mind.
I exited the plane and was escorted by a marine liaison to the airport military lounge which was called a USO. When I entered the USO the marine liaison told me to take a seat and get comfortable, he told me that the marine drill instructors will arrive shortly to pick me up and take me to the depot where I would begin my training. I began to look for an open seat, as most of the seats were already occupied by others who were also going to boot camp. I decided to stand next to a group of guys that just graduated boot camp and earned the title. I started to ask one of the newly appointed marines how boot camp was. He took one looked at me and said, “Good luck, it was the hardest, most physically and mentally challenging experience I have ever faced.” Just then, a loud wind of voices came roaring through the door followed by 10 drill instructors. The drill instructors all started shouting for everyone to get outside. I started running, following the crowd out the front door of the USO. As one of the drill instructors started taking roll call, the others started yelling and screaming in all of our faces, telling us to board the buses and that we are now owned by the United States Marine Corps. At that moment I will never forget how bad my body began to shake with fear.
The first month of boot camp was complete hell, we were constantly getting screamed at. The drill instructors were there to break all of our old habits and break us down to our lowest possible point, and only then start molding us to the Marine Corps standard. Our 18 hour days consisted of doing physical training, drilling with our rifles, and getting punished by the drill instructors when we didn’t do what they wanted exactly how they wanted it. I felt like giving up during this first month, I really began to tell myself that I should have listened to my father and went to college.
During the second month of boot camp, I started learning what a team was all about. For all of us in my platoon it started to become we instead of I, or me. We were learning the routine, and realizing that as long as we worked together and performed to the highest standard, we were treated better. The stuff that I once thought was hard, such as the physical training and drilling all day on the parade deck was becoming easier. We were all becoming much stronger and physically able to endure the hardest challenges. During this second month I started to truly believe that I could do this. At night I would lay in the rack, visioning what graduation would be like, seeing my father amongst the crowds of people cheering, proud of his son for following in his footsteps.
The final month of boot camp we were starting to get treated like marines. I could see graduation just around the corner. Our platoon would spend hours getting ready for graduation and completing the final drill and fitness tests. We would show our drill instructors what we learned by passing all the required tests that were put in front of us.
On January 9th 2004, I held my head high in front of hundreds of proud family members. My senior Drill instructor stepped in front of me and told me to hold out my hand. He placed an eagle globe and anchor in my hand and said congratulations Marine. As a tear slowly crept down my face, it hit me, I did it, I completed the toughest challenge of my life yet, I am a United States Marine.

Your Questions About Free Stuff To Do In Denver

Ken asks…

Donald asks…

Helen asks…

Anybody sold stuff on Craig’s List in Denver/Boulder area?

If so, just curious what your experiences were. Is it free to list things, is it safe, did things sell, what do you accept as pay (cash, check, etc.)???

Yes it is free to list and it is amazing how fast you can get rid of free things. If all possible when you are doing a transaction to meet in a neutral well populated area just to be safe.

Believe me when I tell you, these designers don’t even last at those stores for very long. Till you go back there in a few months, he’ll be gone. Go shop within your means.

Your Questions About Free Stuff On Your Birthday

Lisa asks…

Where can you get free stuff on your birthday at Disneyland or California Adventure?

My daughter’s birthday is tomorrow, and we are going to Disneyland/California Adventure. We are annual passholders, and have heard there are some things that you can get free on your birthday. All I know about is the paper crown on the merry go round in California Adventure. Does anyone else know about any other special treats or treatment she can get on her big day at either park? Thanks!

admin answers:

-At the mission tortilla factory in California Adventure, you get a 10 pack of tortilla’s.
-Get your birthday pin from city hall, and on my birthday they let me listen to a happy birthday call from goofy. The call was in city hall on a really cool phone on the front desk.
-And if you plan to eat at bayou, they give you a free chocolate moose. But the moose is a bit dinky, I know this from working at the park and having to make those little things.

Also, you do not have to register her birthday to get the 69$ gift card, all you have to do is show proof of birthday at the ticket booth. But the registration stuff on disneyland.com does save you a little bit of time because you do not have fill out paper work prior to going into the park. Also you should go in to the french market (or any food place/attraction really, but you could go bother my old co workers at french market) and request them to sing happy birthday to your daughter. How could they say no to a birthday girl?!
