Cleans your soldering iron tips without water and is faster and better than a sponge! Made from coils of brass, which are softer than the tip plating yet hard enough to lessen oxidation To clean the tip, simply plunge the iron tip into the coils. This cleans better than a wet sponge and won't reduce the tip temperature.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do

This is a small stainless steel cup containing a coiled brass sponge. It cleans a hot soldering tip with just a quick wipe, much more effectively than a wet sponge and without lowering the temperature of the tip. Although the cup is quite lightweight, a rubber disk on the bottom prevents sliding on the workbench. The sponge is replaceable but I cannot imagine it wearing out in any normal lifetime of use.

I don’t know who invented this kind of tip cleaner but it works remarkably well for very little money.

Highly recommended if you do any significant amount of soldering.

Better than a Sponge

This works way better than a moldy, ripped, ratty sponge. It looks and feels like a higher quality product than the Hakko “dome” tip cleaner. It can also be used as a soldering iron stand if you’re not klutzy.

Works well – no problems

No problems with this cleaner. Nice heavy base. Brass cleaning wool works like it should. We don’t use the iron holder so I can’t comment on that.

Like this better than the ball-shaped Hakko cleaner.

I have to say that I was a little skeptical about purchasing this item since I’ve been soldering for around 20+ years and have never used anything other than a wet sponge, but this really works!! The brass sponge really does clean the tip of my iron and because brass is such a soft metal and the amount of metal contacted during tip cleaning is so insignificant, it does not alter the temperature or affect the tip of the iron in a negative way at all!! My only regret is that once I saw how well it worked, I decided to use a little flux on the brass coils to make it work “even better” and that caused it to absorb the loose solder “even better”, but also effectively destroyed the sponges ability to work well the next time due to the large amount of excess solder and flux in the sponge. In essence, when using flux on the brass sponge it absorbs the solder TOO well. This just means I will have to buy another sponge much sooner than expected, but luckily I had enough foresight to only use flux on a very small portion of the sponge so there is still some bare brass left!! Totally my fault!! Good product, good seller, good price!!!

Works great!

Nice unit for cleaning the tips on my irons. Solid stainless steel case holds the brass wire coils, works so much better than a sponge! Great price, why pay more for a certain name? I would buy this again in a second.

WOW this works great much better then using a sponge. I wish I would have bought this a long time ago. this is well made steel case. I like that it has a rubber bottom to keep it from sliding around will buy again. great buy well worth the money.

The price has gone up a buck just since I ordered it a couple weeks ago, so not sure how good of a value this will be in the long run.

Overall it works well, and has a little stand for the iron. Only thing is, it needs to be lowered so the iron doesn’t sit too high. So if you do that, you’ll have to approach the brass from the other side when taking the solder off. Probably easier to rotate it back and forth every time. Not a big deal, just a heads-up.

It does what it is supposed to do

I solder occasionally and wetting the sponge to clean the soldering iron tip is a nuisance. Just jab your soldering iron tip into this thing and it comes out clean and shiny, no moisture required.

So much better than a sponge

This thing is great! No thermal shock from the water in a sponge, and yet it still cleans far more effectively. Worth every penny!

If you’re still using a wet sponge, buy this today!

To properly solder electronics, you need to keep the soldering tip clean & bright. For 30 years, I’ve been using the wet sponge to clean the tip… then I tried this. The problem with a wet sponge is it also cools the tip down. Using this is so much better. The hold is nice and heavy and doesn’t slide around even on my glass top desk. The little handle also serves as a holder for your iron. Only 1 thing to watch out for… don’t grab the handle to move it as it’ll be hot of course. You won’t forget and do it a second time if you do.
