Although, one thing you left out that I think is important is that just because x and y are in the function, that doesnt mean you have to lable it f(x,y), x or y could be a constant or variable-constant and in that case you would just call it just f(x) or f(y).

Once you exceed pass these speeds then you are reading almost entirely with your eyes and not with your larynx. I would suggest reciting your alphabet while reading, this takes the larynx out of the equation and should help you to break through into the higher reading speeds.
