Our political system needs reform, we need to grow up and get out of the Dark Ages. A persons ability to lead should be the only matter of importance, not gender, skin color, or religion. I think that the religions of presidential candidates should be kept private and personal, so that voters CAN'T just vote for someone based on what faith they adhere to. They will have to focus on more important things, like THE ISSUES.

I'm not sure if I agree that race is only factor in this case. For some, it is definitely the first factor, but I think for many it's that they'd never heard of him before and this event both introduced and defined Wright. It's much the way that I'd never heard of Falwell before 9/11, and could never be fully persuaded not to loathe him after his comments about that event.
