Empty System Restore every two months. And for the health of the PC, I run sfc /scannow and checkdisk every three months. Personally, I don't see how ppl get by without using CCleaner often. The last PC I cleaned had THREE GB of junk files in it!! It was 8 months old! Ridiculous.

To make Avast 5 a lot more effective go into the expert settings for the file system shield, choose "scan while writing" and tick the box "scan all files". Test it before and after changing the setting much better and Avast is excellent anyway.
